After Playing in the park and a trip to town, which includes a yummy drink from Sonic, we took a drive to explore the last 2 campgrounds near by.
We forgot matches or lighters and found out the cigarette lighter in our car is broken so Reid engineered a way to start a fire using jumper cables! Jessie was a very good supervisor when it came to building the fire!
Gunner ran all over as usual and then found a bird to watch in a near by tree.
The smoke from the new Mexico fires is getting thicker and made for a beautiful sunset!
Memorial weekend part 1...
Friday was a day in the pool with Popsicles followed by campfire and a hike up Water Canyon.
Today we rode our bikes up to the Kelly Ghost town - hardest ride EVER! I'm embarrassed to say it was only 4 miles each way, but the 1000 foot climb in elevation helps me justify the difficulty!
Our bike ride was, of course, followed by more pool time and Popsicles!

Our summer home...
We are living in a Forest Service house that is right next door to Reid's office and one of the two projects that he is overseeing. They are building a new district building so they are currently working out of trailers. In his work trailer Reid is closer to home than he is to the district building.
The house we are staying in is functional and has most of the things we need to live for a few months. The chairs are up because Jessie likes to climb and has already tipped one over, landing on her head...
The back yard is fenced which is nice for Gunner, but it's not really what I consider a "yard." It is full of ants and stickers so we are kind of sticking to the concrete for now.
The village of Magdalena is on top of a mountain so between the gravel roads, the elevation, and the 40 mph winds, I'm finding running to be a little tricky.
Anyway, here is a little taste of our neighborhood...in all it's trashy glory!

Water Canyon
The closest campground is called Water Canyon. It's a nice area, but there is only a trickle of water...
Loves her pool
We bought Jessie a pool for our back yard while we are in New Mexico and she loves it! The slide is her favorite part!
All about glasses
Jessie is in to taking an enormous drink from a glass (and spilling it all over herself) and wearing my glasses and sunglasses these days. Pretty cute!
