Baby Shower

Jessie and I had a GREAT baby shower!  The theme was books and saying so each gift included a book and each person in attendance wrote advice, sayings, or prayers to put in a memory book for us.  We were totally SPOILED!  Thank you to everyone that came and to those who sent gifts in the mail.  We received a fish box FULL of baby stuff from our Alaska family too which was a really fun surprise.

Baby's 1st Christmas

Reid and I have always traveled to Bozeman for Christmas, but this year we were able to have Christmas at our house.  We moved into our house December 23rd and Reid's parents and my mom came up on Christmas Eve.  After getting a new house and a new baby there really wasn't much left on our Christmas list (or in our budget), so it was pretty easy to have a great Christmas with our family.

Jessie had a great time with her grandmas

Even Dally and Gunner had a great Christmas

Best present we could have under the tree this year!

Getting Started on Jessie's Room

Well, it is still pretty plain, but at least I have some GREAT paintings to hang up in Jessie's room!  I have curtains ordered and we're working on a few other things, but I thought I would show you the beginnings of our nursery.

Jessie's First Bath

Jessie did NOT like her first sponge bath, but she didn't seem to mind her first bath in the tub.  A big thanks to our wonderful photographer, Aunt Caroline, for making a great video and getting great still shots to help us document this milestone.

A few Firsts from Jessie's first month

Love these brand-new, dry little feet!

A perfect "cheer" fist from the start - that's my girl!

Her first bed....a drawer from the dresser in our hotel

The Stink Eye - she wasn't a huge fan of her first sponge bath!

I love that little ruffle bum

Her first photo shoot

Jessie's second bed.....a laundry basket

She is a good little sleeper and can fall asleep just about anywhere

Coming Home December 1, 2010

On December 1st we received approval from both Washington and and Montana to bring Baby Jessie home. She was a perfect angel in the airport and on the plane, arriving home at midnight.

On Friday both sets of grandparents came to Helena to meet their newest grand-daughter.

Gunner also got to meet Jessie for the first time that weekend. He barked at her when he first came into the house. Then once he realized that she wasn't a threat he became very curious. Now he is a big fan, a little jealous, but very sweet with her and protective of her.

The cheerleaders were also very anxious to meet Jessie and made her a sign welcoming her to our gym family. Such sweet girls.

Waiting in Washington, 11/24/10 - 12/1/10

After the placement documents were signed, we were discharged from the hospital with Jessie the day before Thanksgiving. We had a 48 hour checkup in Vancouver Friday morning so we decided to stay in our hotel for the holiday. Jessie had her first Thanksgiving feast at Hometown Buffet with perfect strangers. To get into the restaurant the line for groups of 4 or less was out the door and into the parking lot so we decided to join in with a nice family that was in line behind us to create a large group which moved us to a shorter line. We had a wonderful time and even made some new friends. Friday morning, after her check-up, we drove to Redmond Washington, where we spent the rest of our waiting period with Reid's family. We stayed at Aunt Debra and Uncle Pat's house and visited with Reid's sister Paige daily.

Although we were anxious to return home with our new baby girl, it was very nice to get to spend some quality time with Reid's family. This time turned out to be a blessing in disguise as it ended up being our last days with Reid's sister Paige. 4 days after we arrived home in Montana we received a phone call and immediately left to return to Washington to be with Paige. We are so grateful for the time we had to spend with Paige before she passed away. It is a true testimony to us that our Heavenly Father knows us and has a plan for us. If Jessie hadn't been born 4 weeks early we would not have been able to spend those precious moments with Paige.
Jessie's first check-up - 11/26/10. She weighed 6 lbs 1 oz.
Spending time with the Holman's. Everyone was very anxious to meet her and snuggle her.
Jessie's first experience with Sushi. The sushi was excellent in Washington and we ate there almost every day (the sushi restaurants were closed on Thanksgiving so we chose to do something a little more traditional).
Jessie's bed in our hotel was a drawer from the dresser. It was a perfect fit! At the Holman's she slept in a laundry basket.
Meeting Aunt Paige, Uncle James, and her cousin Esme. Esme is also adopted and is 11 months older than Jessie.
Tummy time with her daddy.
We were lucky enough to be able to introduce Jessie to part of her Alaska family in the airport on our way home. It was so great to see Russell, Leah, Kenzie, Carter, Alli, and Kate!
